FIFA 2026 World Cup Nations List: Who Qualified, When and How
The 2026 FIFA World Cup introduces a historic expansion to 48 teams, replacing the 32-team format that has been in place since 1998. Hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the tournament will feature a wider global representation than ever before.

UEFA has been allocated 16 places, CAF nine, and AFC eight. CONMEBOL and CONCACAF are guaranteed at least six teams each, while OFC has one automatic spot for the first time. Two additional places will be determined through intercontinental playoffs.
