Arne Slot in Talks for AC Milan Job Minutes After Liverpool Exit

‎Arne Slot’s time at Liverpool may already be over, but the Dutch manager is reportedly attracting major interest from AC Milan following his departure from Anfield.
‎The 47-year-old was relieved of his duties on Saturday after two seasons in charge of Liverpool. Shortly after the announcement, reports emerged linking him with a swift return to management in Serie A.

‎Journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims AC Milan have made Slot their top managerial target as they prepare for life after Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian giants are believed to have already opened discussions with representatives of the former Liverpool coach.
‎Milan are searching for a fresh start after enduring another disappointing domestic campaign. Allegri’s dismissal followed a fifth-place finish in Serie A, leaving the Rossoneri outside the Champions League for a second consecutive season.
‎Slot leaves Liverpool after overseeing 113 matches during his spell at the club, recording 66 victories, 18 draws and 29 defeats. His biggest accomplishment came in the 2024-25 season when he led Liverpool to the Premier League title, marking only the club’s second league triumph in 35 years.
‎Liverpool’s official statement announcing Slot’s exit also recognised the difficult environment he managed through during his time at the club, particularly following the tragic death of Diogo Jota last summer.
‎Although Slot delivered silverware, the mood around the club reportedly deteriorated over time. Fans increasingly criticised Liverpool’s style of play, describing it as conservative and lacking excitement compared to previous years.
‎The frustration surrounding performances eventually spilled into public view when Mohamed Salah, who is expected to depart this summer after his relationship with Slot broke down, called for the return of the "heavy metal football" style associated with Jürgen Klopp.
‎As pressure intensified around the AXA Training Centre, Liverpool decided to make a managerial change before the start of the upcoming campaign.
‎With Slot now potentially heading to Italy, Liverpool’s attention has turned toward appointing a successor. Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is considered the frontrunner after leading the Cherries to a historic sixth-place finish and securing Europa League football.
‎However, Liverpool are reportedly still assessing multiple candidates. Lens manager Pierre Sage, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, and Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness are all said to remain under consideration for the role.
