The English forward recently delivered a clear statement through social media as speculation surrounding his future intensified. Posting a series of training images on Instagram, Rashford added the caption: “Keep it moving,” signalling his determination to ignore outside distractions and remain focused on his performances.
Questions over Rashford’s long-term future at Camp Nou have increased after Barcelona completed the signing of Gordon. Many viewed the blockbuster transfer as a sign that the club may decide against retaining Rashford beyond his loan spell, although reports indicate there is still optimism surrounding his situation.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford is prioritising a future in Catalonia over a return to Manchester United. The winger is said to be encouraged by private assurances from Flick, who reportedly informed him that he is pleased with his tactical contribution and wants him included in next season’s squad plans.
The major obstacle preventing the move from becoming permanent remains financial. Barcelona possess a €30 million purchase option within Rashford’s loan agreement, which would reportedly include a three-year contract. However, any deal depends on the club creating sufficient financial room within La Liga’s salary regulations.
Despite Gordon’s €80 million transfer from Newcastle United, Rashford’s representatives insist the player remains calm about the situation. The forward was reportedly aware of Barcelona’s negotiations for his international teammate well before the transfer was finalised.
With Barcelona yet to formally indicate that he is no longer required, Rashford has reportedly instructed his camp to pause serious discussions with other European clubs monitoring his availability.
The Manchester United forward, whose contract at Old Trafford runs until 2028, is now approaching what is being viewed as a decisive stage in his career. Rashford is fully focused on convincing Barcelona to activate the €30 million clause before the beginning of pre-season preparations.
During his time with Barcelona last season, Rashford made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists.
