Mourinho, currently managing Benfica, is being strongly linked with a comeback to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Spanish giants are believed to be planning changes after a challenging season, and the Portuguese coach has emerged as a leading option.

Tebas did not hide his enthusiasm when discussing the idea of Mourinho rejoining the Spanish top division. He emphasized that such a move would not only benefit Real Madrid but also enhance the overall appeal of La Liga.

Addressing the rumours, Tebas explained that any decision rests with Real Madrid’s leadership, but made it clear he sees value in Mourinho’s presence. He described the veteran coach as someone who brings excitement and entertainment, adding that this would positively impact the league’s profile.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s hierarchy is reportedly preparing for a shift in the dugout. Alvaro Arbeloa, who took over after Xabi Alonso’s departure in January, is expected to step aside at the end of the season following an underwhelming campaign that could end without major trophies for a second year running.

Club president Florentino Perez is said to be keen on appointing Mourinho, viewing him as the right figure to guide the team through a transitional phase. The pair are known to share a strong relationship despite Mourinho’s exit in 2013, and his proven ability to deliver success under pressure adds to his appeal.

At present, Mourinho is in charge of Benfica, having returned to the Portuguese club in September after many years coaching across Europe’s top leagues. His current contract runs until June 2027, though there are provisions that could allow for an early exit.

Reports indicate that both Mourinho and Benfica have the option to terminate the agreement at the end of the season, potentially opening the door for a move back to Madrid.

Despite the growing rumours, Mourinho has attempted to downplay talk of a return. Reflecting on his immediate priorities, he stated that his focus remains on guiding Benfica back into the Champions League.
