Enzo Maresca names the Chelsea player who will undoubtedly start against Tottenham

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is the only player who is guaranteed to start against Tottenham.

The Blues dominated against Southampton on Wednesday night, winning 5-1.

Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen impressed on his Premier League debut against Southampton, but he was unable to retain a clean sheet.

Maresca was questioned after the defeat regarding the Blues' starting lineup for their upcoming encounter against Tottenham on Sunday.

Marseca revealed: "That day, we'll play Robert Sanchez and ten other guys. "The only one who is certain is Sanchez."

Sanchez has made some significant blunders this season, and Chelsea's goalkeeping issue is a heated subject.

It's unclear if Marseca trusts Sanchez more than Jorgensen in such a crucial game versus Spurs, or if it's simply a matter of roster rotation.

Last week's edition of Inside Chelsea featured a discussion about Sanchez.

Matisse Armani, a Chelsea supporter and content producer, said: "This is the one position (goalkeeper) where I believe Chelsea has had a high level of skill over the years, and if they want to advance to the next level, it must be corrected.

"Can you do that in January?" "Probably not."

Ex-Blues defender Jason Cundy added: "I think the business is done, but I take the point that most fans look at the goalkeeping situation and wonder, 'Is it alright right now?'"

"But I think what we've got is probably what we're going to get, but we'll probably see the squad trimmed."

Maresca was dissatisfied with one aspect of his win against Southampton.

Robert Sanchez has conceded 14 goals so far this season.

"I am very pleased with the five goals we scored," said Maresca.

"I'm not pleased with the opening 15 to 20 minutes in which we labored. We struggled because we set up the game to be man-to-man (out of possession), but we did not push man-to-man in the opening 15-20 minutes.

"If you don't go man to man against this team, you'll have trouble recovering the ball. We made the necessary adjustments, and the game improved significantly. It has entirely transformed.

"I thought they all played well. When you play 10 guys, you have to adjust. You can slow the game down and hold the ball, but we generated so many opportunities. We might have scored more goals, but five is sufficient."

Chelsea are second in the Premier League table and on a four-game winning streak ahead of their meeting against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham earned six points from three games against the 'big six' this season, including a win against Manchester City in the EFL Cup.

Spurs, on the other hand, have nine players out injured and are now seventh in the table following an erratic run of form.
