Manchester United were humiliated as Bournemouth ran wild at Old Trafford on a somber day for Ruben Amorim.

As a result, United will finish in the bottom half of the standings at Christmas for the first time since 1989-90.

United, who capitulated in the second half, will finish in 13th place at Christmas following another poor performance, leaving them with only seven points from Amorim's first six games in charge.

The home crowd booed when the final whistle blew.

Marcus Rashford was left out of the United team again, although he was at Old Trafford to witness the game.

Bournemouth have risen to sixth place as they continue their outstanding season under Andoni Iraola.

Bournemouth went ahead on 29 minutes when Dean Huijsen headed home totally unmarked from a free-kick as United conceded another set-piece goal.

United were poor for the majority of the match but came to life for the short spell at the end of the first half and Bruno Fernandes missed three chances to equalise, while Huijsen was fortunate not to score an own goal from a corner.

Bournemouth took the lead on 29 minutes when Dean Huijsen headed home completely unmarked from a free kick, as United surrendered another set-piece goal.

United were unimpressive for the bulk of the game but came alive at the conclusion of the first half, with Bruno Fernandes missing three opportunities to equalise and Huijsen lucky not to score an own goal from a corner.

Bournemouth extended their advantage on 61 minutes when Noussair Mazraoui made a harsh challenge on Justin Kluivert, who recovered to score from the spot.

Dango Ouattara set up Antoine Semenyo, who shot past Andre Onana for Bournemouth's second goal in two minutes.
