Chelsea director backs Enzo Maresca amid poor run of form — 'Maresca's job is '100 percent' safe this season'

Chelsea director Jonathan Goldstein has given his full backing to head coach Enzo Maresca, despite the team's recent struggles in the Premier League. Goldstein's comments come after Chelsea's form has nose-dived, with the team winning just two of their last nine league fixtures.

Goldstein has reassured fans that Maresca's position is secure for the remainder of the season. "He's doing a great job," Goldstein said on Bloomberg TV. "Chelsea started the season very well. The past six weeks have been, you know, finding their feet a little bit more." When asked if Maresca would stay for the rest of the season, Goldstein replied emphatically: "100 percent."

Despite their recent struggles, Chelsea remain just one point behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the Premier League. With 13 games left to play, the Blues still have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Additionally, Chelsea are one of the favorites to win the 2024-25 Europa Conference League crown.

While Maresca's job may be safe for now, the pressure is still on for him to deliver results. If Chelsea fail to achieve their goals this season, Maresca's position may not be so secure come summer. The team will look to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat at Brighton when they visit Aston Villa on Saturday in the Premier League.
