Man Utd's €70 million bid for Fermin Lopez unsuccessful as Barcelona starlet stays loyal

Manchester United reportedly made an approach for Barcelona's Fermin Lopez in the January transfer window, but the starlet has made his stance plain.

Fermin, a Barcelona midfielder, has shown great promise since dazzling at the Summer Olympics in Paris, where he was named Player of the Tournament as Spain U-21 won gold. Fermin has played an important part in Hansi Flick's team this season, but he is not a guaranteed starter, with Pedri, Gavi, and Marc Casado all flourishing in the center of the park.

SPORT has revealed that Manchester United offered €70 million (£58.3 million/$72.3 million) for Fermin during the winter transfer window in order to improve Ruben Amorim's midfield options; however, the 21-year-old has made clear that he is not considering leaving Barcelona because he is enjoying life under Flick at his boyhood club. The report disclosed that Aston Villa was also interested in signing Fermin this winter, but neither Premier League club was able to complete the deal.

Manchester United were apparently willing to pay Fermin 'twice of what he now earns' at Barcelona in order to entice him to accept their offer, but the 21-year-old is hungry to succeed with Blaugrana and will not be leaving anytime soon.

The 21-year-old has played in a variety of positions and is in strong battle with Dani Olmo and Gavi to start as number 10 behind Robert Lewandowski. Fermin is unlikely to start for Flick when Barcelona face Sevilla on Sunday, February 9.
