UEFA makes exception for Chelsea and Tottenham's European ties

Chelsea and Tottenham have received a boost from UEFA, which has decided to make an exception to its same-city guidelines. This means that the two London-based teams will not have to reschedule their European ties, despite being located just 16km apart.

According to UEFA's rules, a "clash" occurs when two teams cannot compete on the same day due to sharing the same stadium, city, or being within 50km of each other. However, in this instance, UEFA has chosen to make an exception, allowing both Chelsea and Tottenham to host their home matches on March 13.

With this decision, both Chelsea and Tottenham can focus on their respective European competitions without the added complication of rescheduling. The two teams have strong chances of winning their respective competitions, and this small boost could make a significant difference in their campaigns.

The draws for the Europa League and Conference League will take place on Friday, with the Europa League draw commencing at 12pm and the Conference League draw beginning an hour later. Tottenham will face either AZ or Real Sociedad in the last 16 of the Europa League, while Chelsea will come up against either Real Betis or Copenhagen in the same stage of the Conference League.
