Why Bryan Mbeumo is prioritizing Manchester United ahead of Arsenal and Spurs

‎While several Premier League clubs have shown concrete interest, sources close to the player confirm that Mbeumo is drawn to Manchester United's global stature, long-term project, and return to elite European competition. The 26-year-old has told Brentford and former manager Thomas Frank — now in charge at Spurs — that he will not consider a transfer to any other club at this time.
‎Talks between United and Brentford are ongoing. An initial £45 million bid, rising to £55 million with add-ons, has already been rejected, with Brentford holding out for a fee in excess of £62.5 million — the same figure paid by United for Matheus Cunha. Still, Manchester United remain hopeful of reaching a compromise, especially now that Mbeumo has made his preference clear.
‎Ambition, Identity, and Champions League Football
‎Mbeumo’s decision is rooted in more than just admiration. Sources say he views Manchester United as the ideal platform to elevate his career, citing the club’s renewed ambition under head coach Ruben Amorim, the promise of Champions League football, and a strong belief in the club’s identity and direction.
‎With Amorim now firmly in control at Old Trafford, the vision for the team is clear: intensity, youth, versatility, and attacking fluidity — all traits that align with Mbeumo’s style of play. As one of the Premier League’s most dynamic wide forwards, he believes he can thrive in this environment and take the next step in his career at United.
‎Tottenham Admiration Not Enough
‎Tottenham had been confident of landing Mbeumo, especially after appointing Thomas Frank, who helped develop him at Brentford. But while Mbeumo respects Frank deeply, he sees Manchester United as a step up — a club with the infrastructure, ambition, and competitive edge he seeks at this stage of his career.
‎Despite being under contract with Brentford until June 2026 — with an option to extend for a further year — Mbeumo has privately and now publicly made his intentions clear: he will only leave the Gtech Community Stadium for Manchester United.
‎Manchester United Ready, But Disciplined
‎Importantly, funds are available at Old Trafford to complete the deal without any outgoing sales. But United's leadership is determined not to overspend, maintaining financial discipline in a summer that has already seen significant movement.
‎As negotiations progress, the ball is now firmly in Brentford’s court. Mbeumo is ready for the next chapter, and he believes that chapter should be written at Old Trafford.
‎“For Bryan, it’s about more than money or even playing time,” one source close to the player said. “It’s about the chance to compete at the highest level with a club that still stands for something globally — Manchester United is that club.”
