‎According to Voetbal International, Feyenoord were left unconvinced by Leverkusen’s first proposal, led by Erik ten Hag, for the 24-year-old. Timber has only one year remaining on his current deal, which expires in 2026, and has refused to extend. His decision already cost him the captain’s armband, which was handed to new signing Sem Steijn earlier this summer.
‎Timber, who joined Feyenoord in 2022, has played 105 matches for the Eredivisie side, contributing 18 goals and 13 assists. His previous campaign was disrupted by a torn lateral knee ligament, which sidelined him for the entire second half of the season. Before the injury, he managed 26 appearances, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
‎Feyenoord now face a dilemma, with the risk of losing Timber for free next summer if no transfer is secured. This situation makes a sale likely before the transfer window closes, even though Leverkusen’s initial approach was dismissed.
‎The Bundesliga champions remain determined to secure Timber’s signature and are expected to continue negotiations. Their pursuit of the Dutchman comes as they close in on Argentine midfielder Equi Fernandez from Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. A successful deal for Timber could also influence Aleix Garcia’s future, with West Ham United interested in bringing the Spaniard to London.
‎West Ham are monitoring Timber closely as Graham Potter looks to bolster his squad following a poor start to the Premier League season. The Hammers conceded eight goals in their opening two matches, leaving midfield reinforcements a pressing priority. Timber, the twin brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber, remains firmly on their shortlist as the window nears its conclusion.
