‎Manchester United suffered another setback on Wednesday when they were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town. The lower-league team took a two-goal lead within the opening 30 minutes after costly mistakes from goalkeeper Andre Onana. Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire struck back to force a penalty shootout, but Grimsby prevailed to secure a shocking victory over the Red Devils.
‎The defeat intensified scrutiny on Amorim, who already faced questions after United’s 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season and their winless run across the first three league fixtures this term. Reports suggest that the club’s hierarchy could reconsider Amorim’s position if performances do not improve significantly in the coming weeks.
‎Speaking to Boyle Sports, James Tomkins identified Glasner as a candidate United should consider if a managerial change takes place. The former West Ham and Crystal Palace defender noted Glasner’s previous links with Bayern Munich and his growing reputation in the Premier League.
‎Tomkins highlighted Glasner’s influence at Crystal Palace, emphasizing the transformation he has overseen and his ability to achieve results in high-pressure games. He explained that Palace face the dual challenge of retaining their top players and their highly rated manager, suggesting Glasner’s success makes him a realistic target for elite clubs.
