Man Utd Told to Appoint Dyche After Latest Amorim Humiliation

‎United fell to League Two side Grimsby Town in a penalty shootout after a dramatic 2-2 draw in normal time. The match marked the first time in club history that Manchester United have been eliminated from a cup competition by a fourth-tier opponent. Grimsby triumphed 12-11 on penalties, leaving United without a victory in the opening three matches of the 2025-26 season.
‎Amorim’s record since taking charge has raised concerns, with United finishing 15th in the Premier League last season and losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final. The Portuguese manager has registered just a 35.6 percent win rate, fueling calls for change from both pundits and supporters.
‎Speaking on Sky Sports, Charlie Austin acknowledged Zinedine Zidane as an ideal target for United but expressed doubts over his suitability for the current situation. Instead, he highlighted Sean Dyche’s track record at Burnley and Everton, where he stabilized clubs under pressure. Austin emphasized that Manchester United urgently need structure, something he believes Dyche could provide.
‎Austin added that United fans may be skeptical about appointing Dyche but stressed the importance of discipline and cohesion within the squad. He argued that the Red Devils currently lack a clear system, with players appearing to act without direction on the pitch.
‎Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend with a crucial fixture against Burnley at Old Trafford. Another poor result could place further pressure on Amorim’s position and intensify speculation about the club’s next managerial appointment.
