Why Chelsea Are Playing Without a Shirt Sponsor This Season

‎Chelsea, under Enzo Maresca, began their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with mixed results while sporting shirts without a front-of-shirt sponsor. The season opened with a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, followed by a 5-1 win over West Ham United, but fans immediately noticed the absence of a primary shirt partner.

‎The lack of a front-of-shirt sponsor is not unusual for the west London club. Chelsea played much of the 2024/25 season without a sponsor until signing a deal with DAMAC Properties in April 2025. That agreement ended before Chelsea’s Club World Cup success in the United States.

‎Chelsea are now conducting a competitive process to select a new front-of-shirt sponsor. Multiple companies have shown interest, but the club is focused on securing a long-term partner that aligns with its values. Previous discussions reportedly involved deals around £40 million per season, but the Blues are now targeting a higher range of £60-65 million, boosted by their Club World Cup victory and Champions League qualification.
‎New Saudi Arabia airline Riyadh Air has emerged as a strong candidate for the deal, reflecting Chelsea’s strategy of waiting for the right opportunity rather than rushing into a partnership.

‎Chelsea have experienced similar sponsor gaps before. The club started the 2023/24 season without a front-of-shirt sponsor before finalizing a £40 million-plus agreement with Infinite Athlete. This season, even without a sponsor, Chelsea’s kits feature the Club World Cup badge, which the club will retain until 2029.
