Harry Maguire Faces Saudi Transfer Decision with Contract Running Down at Man Utd

Harry Maguire’s Manchester United future has taken another twist after reports confirmed that two Saudi Arabian clubs have made approaches for the England international. With the Premier League transfer window already closed, the Saudi Pro League window remains open until September 23, keeping the defender’s options alive.

‎The 31-year-old centre-back has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, which allows him to negotiate with other clubs from January. Manchester United triggered a one-year extension on his previous deal last summer, preventing him from walking away on a free transfer at the time. Club officials are aware that if no agreement is reached, Maguire could depart without a fee in 2025.
‎Manchester United rejected offers from Premier League sides and Italian clubs earlier in the summer, but interest from the Middle East has added a fresh angle to the player’s situation. According to reports, Maguire would consider a move abroad, but not until the end of the current season.
‎The England international joined Manchester United from Leicester City in 2019 for a then-world record £80 million fee for a defender. He was named captain in 2020, a role he held until Bruno Fernandes succeeded him in 2023. Despite reduced playing time, Maguire remains a key part of Gareth Southgate’s England plans.
‎A potential transfer is unlikely to be completed during the current campaign, with Maguire prioritizing stability ahead of what could be his final major international tournament. By the 2030 World Cup, hosted across Morocco, Portugal, and Spain, the defender will be 37 years old, raising the importance of the upcoming competition for his international career.
