‎'Learned from the Best': Patrick Dorgu Hails Patrice Evra After Stunning Arsenal Goal in Man Utd Thriller

‎Patrick Dorgu paid tribute to Patrice Evra with a heartfelt “learned from the best” message after producing a sensational strike in Manchester United’s 3-2 triumph over Arsenal. The Denmark international has been enjoying his strongest and most reliable spell in the Premier League, with important goals against top opponents playing a major role in boosting his confidence.

‎The 21-year-old endured early doubts about his suitability for English football following a difficult start after completing a £25 million ($34m) move from Lecce in February 2025. Now, a year later, the versatile youngster is finally showing why United invested so heavily in his potential.
‎One of the main challenges for Dorgu was being signed by former manager Ruben Amorim to operate as a wing-back. That role limited his influence at both ends of the pitch, preventing him from fully expressing his attacking instincts while also exposing his discomfort in defensive duties.
‎With Amorim no longer in charge and Michael Carrick stepping in as interim boss, Dorgu has been redeployed as a high-energy winger. The positional change has allowed him to attack with freedom and showcase his natural strengths.
‎Over his last seven league outings, Dorgu has delivered three goals and two assists. He netted in the derby victory over Manchester City before repeating the feat with a dramatic winner at the Emirates Stadium. His effort against Arsenal thundered in off the underside of the crossbar, leaving goalkeeper David Raya helpless.
‎Watching on was former United left-back Patrice Evra, who reacted on X with the words: “What are you doing to me bro,” alongside footage of the strike. Dorgu replied by crediting his influence, saying: “Learned from the best. I’ve seen your goal against Bayern.”
‎The reference pointed back to Evra’s memorable half-volley against Bayern Munich in the 2014 Champions League, when he beat Manuel Neuer with a powerful finish.
‎Dorgu’s recent goal has drawn comparisons with Gareth Bale, who famously evolved from an attacking full-back into a prolific winger at Tottenham and Real Madrid. Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara praised the Dane online, noting that he reminds him of Bale during his early days in north London.
‎Although Dorgu was forced off late against Arsenal due to fitness concerns, Carrick confirmed the issue was minor. The interim manager highlighted Dorgu’s influence in both attack and defence, particularly his work alongside Luke on the flank.
‎Carrick expressed delight at the winger’s progress, pointing out the contrast between his two recent goals and praising his overall contribution. He also revealed the substitution was likely due to cramp and nothing more serious.
‎With a full week to recover, Dorgu now prepares for United’s next fixture at home to Fulham. The Red Devils, currently sitting in the Premier League’s top four, will hope their rising star continues his impressive run.
