Sheringham Says Sesko 'Is Not the Answer' After Man Utd Missed Harry Kane

‎Across recent campaigns, the Red Devils have experimented with several high-profile attackers in the central role. From Romelu Lukaku and Edinson Cavani to Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund, each option has fallen short of fully meeting expectations. Significant transfer fees have been spent, yet consistent returns have failed to materialize.

‎During the summer of 2025, faith was placed in Sesko. The 22-year-old was handed responsibility to spearhead the attack and deliver the results supporters have long been demanding.

‎However, with only five goals from 19 matches, doubts remain. Speaking in partnership with Mr Q, Sheringham acknowledged Sesko’s promise but questioned whether the timing is right. He highlighted the gap between developing at a mid-table club and leading the line for a title-chasing side. In his view, United need an experienced, fully-formed striker rather than a player still refining his game.

‎Former United forward Louis Saha also offered guidance, urging Sesko to follow the example set by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Saha stressed the importance of relentless work ethic, self-belief, and confidence, noting that Ibrahimovic’s consistency and aura defined his success. He believes Sesko possesses the technical tools but must adopt the same mentality to flourish.

‎Speculation has already resurfaced about a potential move for Victor Osimhen in the summer of 2026. The Nigerian striker remains a proven scorer and has long been linked with a Premier League switch. Sheringham admitted Osimhen could be an option but hopes Sesko continues to learn and develop within the club.

‎Still, the former striker reiterated the urgency for results. He again pointed to the missed opportunity to sign Kane three years ago, suggesting United’s decision to pursue cheaper alternatives has left them with solid players rather than elite leaders up front.
