Szoboszlai Talks Salah: What’s Next for the Egyptian Star at Liverpool?‎

‎Dominik Szoboszlai has offered insight into his close connection with Mohamed Salah during the Africa Cup of Nations but declined to comment on the Liverpool star’s turbulent relationship with manager Arne Slot. The midfielder described their communication as nearly daily while Salah was away, emphasizing that the controversy surrounding the Egyptian forward remains an internal club matter.

‎Salah, 33, sent shockwaves across Anfield following an interview where he admitted his relationship with Slot had “broken down.” The statements have triggered widespread speculation about the winger’s future, intensifying scrutiny around the club.
‎Speaking about their bond, Szoboszlai said, "Almost every day. We speak about everything. I follow him, he follows me. We talk a lot." Despite their regular chats, the Hungarian midfielder avoided providing any concrete answers regarding Salah’s status at Liverpool. "That’s between me and him," he stated. "He will come back and then we keep on going. The decision is with the manager and the club."
‎Liverpool’s recent 1-1 draw with Burnley highlighted the team’s reliance on Salah’s attacking prowess. Slot confirmed he welcomes Salah back, but the lack of clinical finishing in the Burnley match showed how much the winger’s absence has affected the squad. Szoboszlai, who missed a penalty, remained optimistic about the performance. "We created a lot of chances and had many players in the box. That is what we need to focus on for Marseille," he explained.
‎The midfielder also defended himself after a controversial FA Cup incident against Barnsley. A back-heel mistake in his own area allowed the opposition to score, leading to accusations of disrespect from the Barnsley manager. Szoboszlai rejected the criticism, stating, "It wasn’t disrespectful. I would do the same against top teams like Arsenal or Manchester City."
‎Despite a tough week, including a missed penalty against Burnley, Szoboszlai confirmed he is confident in his abilities and will step aside when Salah returns. Additionally, he revealed ongoing contract discussions at Liverpool, signaling a potential long-term stay at Anfield.
