'We Will Not Back Down': Man City Star Bernardo Silva Issues Strong Title Warning to Arsenal
Bernardo Silva has made it clear that Manchester City will not surrender the Premier League title race quietly, despite Arsenal currently sitting at the summit. The City star believes the Gunners missed a crucial opportunity to create real separation at the top of the table.

Earlier this month, Arsenal had the chance to open a nine-point gap, but their advantage has since been cut to four points. Their latest setback came in a dramatic 3-2 loss at home to Manchester United, a result that denied them the opportunity to move seven points clear.
After the match, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admitted his side were below their usual level. Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, he praised United while acknowledging that Arsenal conceded an avoidable goal and allowed the contest to become chaotic after controlling the opening half-hour. Arteta took responsibility for the defeat, emphasized how fine the margins were, and called on his players to respond positively.
Silva, reflecting on his years in England, highlighted City’s recent dominance in the league. Since arriving from Monaco in 2017, he has lifted the Premier League trophy six times, while Liverpool claimed two titles during the same period. Arsenal, by contrast, have finished second in the last three seasons.
The Portuguese international stressed that although Arsenal are currently in a stronger position, they failed to capitalize when City endured a poor run earlier in the campaign. Silva said that lapse has given City renewed belief, adding that there are still many games left and plenty of points to play for. He insisted the squad’s ambition to reclaim the title remains intact.
City’s optimism has grown following a 2-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League, a result that booked their place in the round of 16 alongside Arsenal. Silva revealed that the team feels more settled and improved compared to three or six months ago, and he believes returning injured players could unlock even greater potential.
The focus now shifts to the weekend’s fixtures. Arsenal head to Elland Road on Saturday to face Leeds United, where victory would once again stretch their lead over City to seven points. Manchester City travel to Tottenham on Sunday aiming to close the gap, while Aston Villa, who are level with City on points, welcome Brentford.
