Why Marcus Rashford Is Set to Stay at Barcelona as Man Utd Door Remains Closed After Amorim Sacking
Marcus Rashford is not expected to make a comeback to Manchester United following Ruben Amorim’s removal from the managerial role, according to recent reports. The decision to loan the forward to Barcelona was reportedly made by United’s senior leadership, meaning Amorim’s departure has not reopened the door for Rashford.
Reports indicate Marcus Rashford will not return to Manchester United anytime soon, as his Barcelona loan was approved by club leadership rather than former boss Ruben Amorim.

The England international has enjoyed a positive campaign since joining Barcelona on loan last summer. He has contributed seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions, although his influence has dipped slightly, with just one assist in his last six La Liga appearances.
According to The Sun, Rashford is unlikely to return to England in the short term, particularly during the January transfer period. The report adds that Amorim was not the driving force behind the loan moves involving Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Jadon Sancho, as those decisions were taken by the club’s hierarchy.
Rashford has since made it clear that he would be happy to remain at Barcelona if given the opportunity. He explained that his primary motivation is winning trophies, and he views Barcelona as a club built for sustained success.
Speaking about his settling-in period, Rashford said he has felt comfortable both at the club and in the city since his arrival. He emphasized that his sole objective is to help the team continue winning titles and repeat last season’s achievements.
The forward also addressed the expectations at Barcelona, describing the pressure as positive and motivating. He noted that he thrives in environments where high standards are demanded and finds it harder to stay driven at clubs without intense expectations.
Amorim previously attracted attention during his Manchester United tenure by questioning Rashford’s commitment in training. He once stated that he would rather select goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital, who was 63 at the time, than play a footballer who did not give maximum effort every day.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, however, has publicly praised Rashford’s attitude. Flick revealed that Rashford showed complete understanding when informed about selection decisions, insisting that team victories and three points were all that mattered.
Looking ahead, Barcelona will take on Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup, giving Rashford an opportunity to claim his first piece of silverware with the club. Matches against Real Sociedad in La Liga and Slavia Praha in the Champions League are also scheduled in the coming days. Barcelona currently sit four points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the table.
