According to AS, initial contact has already been made regarding a possible transfer for the Spanish international.
City are entering the next phase of their rebuild after missing out on the Premier League title during the last two seasons. However, they still finished the campaign strongly by securing both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Tottenham’s season unfolded very differently. Under Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs struggled throughout a chaotic campaign and only avoided relegation on the final day.
Despite the club’s difficulties, Pedro Porro consistently delivered strong performances. The defender played 47 matches in all competitions, recording 3,923 minutes while scoring twice and providing six assists across league and cup action.
His impressive campaign included a standout display against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, where he scored once and added an assist in a 4-2 encounter.
Tottenham remain protected by Porro’s contract, which runs until June 2028, but keeping hold of the defender could prove difficult amid growing interest from Manchester City. De Zerbi reportedly sees the Spaniard as a vital figure in the club’s long-term rebuilding plans.
City’s interest is strengthened by their previous connection with the player. The club once owned Porro before he joined Sporting CP, where he established himself as one of the most highly regarded right-backs in Portugal.
Hugo Viana, now sporting director at Manchester City, closely followed Porro’s development during their shared time in Lisbon and is understood to know the player extremely well.
With ongoing concerns at right-back, Manchester City are acting quickly to gain an advantage in negotiations. Tottenham, however, are standing firm on their valuation and want at least £50 million before considering any sale.
The coming weeks are expected to play a decisive role in determining Porro’s future as Manchester City continue their pursuit and Tottenham attempt to retain one of their most dependable performers.
